BIG Steps

Big Brothers Big Sisters Saskatoon has partnered with Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada to create the BIG Steps to Success program. BIG Steps mentoring will take place at school and in the community. Youth will be referred to the program by the Ministry of Social Services (our local child welfare agency) or the social worker overseeing their care.

Mentors will undergo specialized training focused on the unique needs of children and youth in care. Children and their mentors will be supported by a mentor match team consisting of a child’s social worker, school liaisons, and our BBBSS program Coordinator

Igniting the Warrior Within 

ITWW is a partnership with Navera Community Services. Navera teaches coping mechanisms to groups of children with mental health challenges.Navera trains mentors to support these children as they transition from the group to real life. Mentors spend an hour a week with elementary-aged Mentee engaging in specially designed activities including board games and stories to support their Mentee. Our BBBSS Coordinator provides extra support to ensure your success!

School Based

The In School Mentoring program provides children and youth in elementary school with a role model, a friend to talk with and someone to share the experiences of growing up.

Shared Journey

Shared Journey’s program is aimed at “walking the walk” of reconciliation and not just a historical look at Canada. Indigenous and non-Indigenous mentors and youth will work together, learn together, and mentor each other once a week for 10 weeks to find actionable items to mobilize reconciliation within their own lives.
