15.0 Privacy Policy 

  • BBBSS has named a Chief Privacy Officer.  An existing position may have the responsibilities of a Chief Privacy Officer incorporated into their job description, usually that of the ED. 
  • The agency implements and publishes a privacy policy addressing applicable federal and provincial privacy legislation.
  • The agency obtains and retains an individual’s consent for the personal information it collects.
  • The agency ensures that appropriate privacy measures are in place and active within any third-party organization before entering into an agreement to share personal information with said third party. 

 

15.1 Privacy Policy Statement 

  • The privacy of members of BBBSS is very important to the agency.  BBBSS respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information you provide to us.  This statement explains our policies and practices regarding the use and disclosure of your personal information by BBBSS.   
  • Personally identifiable information is not collected unless specifically submitted via an online registration function or registration form (memberships, events, applications and surveys for example), an electronic mail message, a phone call or postal mail.  All information is kept confidential.  BBBSS will not maintain records on individuals without permission.  All information is protected by BBBSS physical, electronic and managerial security methods, which are updated as necessary. 
  • Information provided will be used periodically to keep you informed of BBBSS, including programs, services, opportunities to volunteer, events, funding needs, membership benefits.  If at any time you no longer wish to receive such information, please contact us. 
  • The website of BBBSS may provide links to other third party websites.  These are provided for convenience only and you access them at your own risk.  Even if a third party is associated with BBBSS through a business relationship or otherwise, BBBSS are not responsible for the privacy policies or practices or content of such third party websites. 

 

15.2 Opt-Out Language to be Used When Gathering Information:
