In April (14-20), we proudly celebrated National Volunteer Week, recognizing the amazing contributions of our volunteers! Each year, our team nominates individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to BBBS, going above and beyond in uplifting our community. We were thrilled to present these awards, celebrating their remarkable efforts.
Here are the award winners! Thank you so much for all you do for BBBS.
Community-Based Award:
Alyssa has been a volunteer with BBBS Saskatoon for the past 3 years. Her ongoing dedication to her mentee has not gone unnoticed. Alyssa has continued to develop a strong relationship with her mentee & their family despite her own busy schedule. Alyssa has volunteer with the BBBS Organization since High School. She has volunteered in both Saskatoon & North Battleford. Her kindness & understanding has impacted her mentees life in many ways leading to a lasting friendship. Her ongoing dedication has also led to a strong relationship with her mentee’s family. We are very thankful to have such a dedicated Volunteer like Alyssa!
In-School Mentor Award:
Calista has been an outstanding in-school mentor for 2 years. During her time as a mentor, her mentee has experienced some very difficult transitions in her personal life, including the loss of her mom. Calista went above and beyond when her mentee’s mom passed away. Her mentee consistently describes Calista as her best friend. Calista shows kindness to everyone in the school and goes above and beyond with BBBS as well.
Circle Volunteer of the Year:
Vincent has been a long-term match with his little brother, and they have moved from In School Mentoring to a Community-based Match. One of the moments they have celebrated over the winter is he taught his mentee to snowboard! Thank you, Vincent, for being such an amazing Big Brother!
Big Steps Volunteer of the Year:
Big Steps Volunteer of the Year has been awarded to Leonie! She has been matched to her mentee for almost 2 years and remains very persistent, despite challenges in her mentee’s family’s life and her busy schedule. She provides her mentee with lots of positive enforcement, especially when it comes to school!
Youth of the Year:
Landon has been involved with Big Brothers and Big Sisters since 2013, he has been a part of The Circle Program for the past few years, he is always respectful, helpful, and considerate. Stepping up to challenges over the past year Landon has shown his strength of character and resilience! Congratulations on being awarded Youth of the Year!
